No switch to turn off Reels, but you can restrict your Reels exposure by unfollowing accounts that post them frequently.
Honestly, you can't completely turn off Reels. Maybe try spending more time on other parts of the app instead!
I don't think there's a way to turn off Reels. I just avoid the Explore page and stick to my friends' posts and Stories.
