Using a controller with XCOM 2 on PC is pretty simple. Connect your Xbox or PlayStation controller, then go into the game's settings and switch input to the gamepad. Easy peasy!

Speaking from experience, just connect your Xbox or PlayStation controller to your PC, launch XCOM 2, and it should recognize it automatically. Check the options menu to confirm and switch to gamepad mode if necessary.
