Using your shield in Tears of the Kingdom is pretty straightforward! Just press and hold the ZL button on your Nintendo Switch controller. This will have Link ready his shield to block or deflect incoming attacks. Perfect timing can even send some attacks right back at enemies. Don't forget, your shield can wear down and break, so keep an eye on its durability and have spares!

Hot take: Shields? Just dodge, bro. Timing your dodges grants invincibility frames and a chance to counterattack. Who needs a shield when you've got mad skills?

I learned the hard way that not all shields are created equal in Tears of the Kingdom. Some are better for surfing than defending! So, make sure you've got the right shield for the job. Saved me a bunch of heartache in tricky fights.

If you're a Legend of Zelda player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Nintendo eShop gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
