How to use USB on PS3 for games
You can use a USB on PS3 to transfer game saves, but you can't play games directly from it. Format the USB as FAT32, copy the game saves onto it, then plug it into your PS3 and go to Game > Saved Data Utility to access them.

Just plug it in and navigate to the Game section on the Cross Media Bar (XMB). From there, go to 'Install Package Files.'
PS3 requires the USB drive to be formatted in FAT32. Once that's done, plug it in, and access it from the Game section in the XMB menu.
Using a USB drive on your PS3 for games is pretty straightforward. Just plug the USB drive into one of the USB ports on the front of your console. Then, head to the Game section in the main menu, select 'Install Package Files,' and you should see your USB drive listed there!
