The adapter method is a hassle. Just get a cheap USB sound card and plug your headphones into that. Simple and effective!

Grab an RCA-to-3.5mm adapter, connect your headphones to the adapter, then plug the adapter into the PS3's AV multi-out port. Go to Settings > Sound Settings > Audio Output Settings, and select AV Multi-Out. You鈥檙e all set!
