Dittos are tricky lil' buggers. They transform into other Pokemon, so they鈥檙e rare because you never know when one will pop up. Catch everything you can!
From my experience, it's rare but not impossible. I caught my first Ditto a few months after starting. Just keep playing and it'll happen!
It's not that rare, just frustrating. Keep catching everything you see and you'll get one eventually.
