Essential: multiplayer access and free monthly games. Extra: adds a game catalog. Premium: adds cloud streaming, classic games, and trials. Simple as that!

I've tried all three: Essential is perfect if you just want multiplayer and some free games. Extra is awesome for a broader game library. Premium rocks if you love classic games and want to try new releases before buying.
Premium is just overpriced. Stick to Essential or Extra.
PlayStation Plus Essential is the basic tier offering online multiplayer access, free monthly games, and exclusive discounts. Extra adds a catalog of up to 400 PS4 and PS5 games to the mix. Premium, the ultimate tier, includes all Essential and Extra benefits plus cloud streaming for select games, access to classic titles from older PlayStation consoles, and time-limited game trials.
In a nutshell: Essential for basics, Extra for more games, Premium for everything including classics and cloud streaming.
