You can't play PS5 games from an external drive because Sony wants you to experience all the fancy tech they've packed into the console. External drives = slower, internal SSD = faster.

The PS5's internal SSD is much faster than any external hard drive. This ensures games load quicker and run smoother. You can still store PS5 games on an external drive, but you'll need to transfer them to internal storage to play.

PS5 games need the high-speed SSD to function properly. External hard drives just won't cut it for the next-gen experience.

Sony designed the PS5 to run its games from the internal SSD for speed and performance reasons. External drives just can't match the blazing fast load times!

If you're a PlayStation player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official PlayStation gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
