Quick saving right before you complete a quest or action that earns you a bunch of XP, and then reloading if Idiot Savant doesn't trigger, is a well-known strategy among Fallout 4 players. Yup, done it myself. It's a bit cheesy but super effective. Just quicksave before doing anything major, and if the perk doesn't activate, just reload. Easy XP!
