Vault 81 is not too far off from Diamond City, just a bit to the west. You'll find it nestled in a more peaceful part of the Commonwealth, which is saying something given the usual chaos. Just keep an eye out for the entrance hidden among the hills, and you’re golden!

Pack some RadAway and a good weapon, 'cause Vault 81 is located to the west of Diamond City. Pretty easy to find if you follow the main road and don't get sidetracked by all the other crazy stuff in the Commonwealth.
