How do I get Dogmeat back in Fallout 4?
Lost your furry companion, huh? No worries! Dogmeat tends to return to one of the dog houses located in Sanctuary Hills if you've misplaced him after a battle or while wandering. Check all the dog houses there; players often miss one or two since they're spread out. If he’s not in Sanctuary, he might be waiting at the Red Rocket Truck Stop, where you first met. Remember, patience is key. Sometimes, it takes a bit for him to show up!

If Dogmeat went MIA, just build a bell in your settlement and ring it. All your companions should come running back, including Dogmeat. Works every time for me!
Just a heads up, if you're on PC and Dogmeat seems to have vanished into the virtual abyss, you can use console commands to teleport him right back to ya. The command is ‘player.moveto 0001d162’. Cheating? Maybe. Handy? Absolutely.
Dogmeat's a good boy, he won't leave you for long! Check your other settlements too, especially if you've assigned him to one of them. Sometimes we forget where we put our companions.
Reload an old save. If he's really gone and none of the above works, it might be your best bet. Sad, but true.
