How to get food for Sanctuary in Fallout 4
Don't forget hunting! Brahmin and other creatures wandering the wasteland can be a good source of meat. Just cook it up on a cooking station to avoid any... unpleasant radiation poisoning.

Simple - grow it! Head out into the wasteland, find some wild crops like tatos, corn, or mutfruit, then bring them back to Sanctuary. Plant them in your settlement's build mode, assign a settler to farm them, and bam! You've got a steady food supply.
Loot and scavenge, obviously. Check every nook and cranny of nearby locations. Canned goods and pre-war foods are perfect since they don鈥檛 spoil. And hey, they give that authentic post-apocalyptic dining experience.
Water purifiers, folks. Not exactly food, but setting up water purifiers in Sanctuary can really help. Clean water sells for a good price, and you can use those caps to buy all the food your heart desires.
Honestly, just trade for it. Caps are easy enough to come by if you're looting and exploring a lot. Find a trader, and stock up on all the food supplies you need.
