How to upgrade Codsworth in Fallout 4
Upgrading Codsworth in Fallout 4 is a breeze once you know how! First off, you can't slap on new armor or weapons directly. But, you can jazz up his abilities by investing in the Robotics Expert perk, which you'll find under the Intelligence section of your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. skills. Level 1 lets you hack him and other robots, but as you level up that perk, you get more options to control and upgrade his capabilities in combat. Don't forget to keep him in tip-top shape with regular repairs!

Actually, you can't properly 'upgrade' Codsworth like you do your guns or armor. He's more about charm and carrying your extra junk. Best you can do is pump up your charisma and use him to charm the pants off the Commonwealth. Or, get that Robotics Expert perk to make him a tad more useful in fights.
If you want to really 'upgrade' Codsworth, just keep him by your side and level up together. Companionship is the best upgrade. Trust me on this one.
Codsworth is perfect as he is, no need for upgrades. Just enjoy his British wit and let him carry your burdens.
