Actually, you CAN counter anything if you're clever about it. Sure, directly, you can't counter lands or abilities with a standard "Counter target spell." But cards like Stifle can counter abilities, and there are ways to mess with lands being played (though not through traditional countering). It's all about knowing your cards and thinking outside the box!

No. Lands skip the stack entirely and abilities need special counter cards, not your run-of-the-mill counterspell.

Nope, you can't counter just any card on the stack in MTG. While most spells (like sorceries, instants, and even creatures if you're fast enough) can be countered, abilities and lands are a whole different ballgame. Once an ability is on the stack, it's happening unless you have a card that specifically says it can counter abilities. And lands? They don't use the stack at all, they just plop right onto the battlefield, no counterspell can touch them.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
