Short and sweet: No, you can't counter Ninjutsu with a counter spell because it's an ability, not a spell. Try other tactics like instant speed removal to ruin their ninja plans!

Actually, countering Ninjutsu is about thinking ahead. You can't counter the ability itself, but you can make it fizzle by removing the target creature before they get to activate Ninjutsu. So, in a way, you counter the player's strategy, not the ability. Played a game where my opponent tried to Ninjutsu their way to victory, only to meet my instant-speed removal card. It was a glorious victory, thwarted by thinking two steps ahead.

Nope, you can't directly counter Ninjutsu because it's not a spell鈥攊t's an ability. Since it's an activated ability that players use when a creature is unblocked, you can't just slap a counter spell on it like you would with a creature or sorcery being cast. However, you can disrupt it by removing the creature before the Ninjutsu ability is activated or using cards that specifically counter abilities.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
