Nope. You start with free decks in MTG Arena. Spend money if you want, but it's not a must.

Nah, you don't HAVE to buy dueling decks in MTG Arena. When you start out, the game hooks you up with some starter decks to get rolling. As you play and complete objectives, you'll earn more cards to tweak those decks or build new ones. But yeah, if you wanna really dive deep into building specific strategies or snag the latest decks, you might find yourself spending some cash to get exactly what you want.

Gotta chime in here - while you technically don't need to buy decks to play MTG Arena, if you're aiming to climb the ranks or just enjoy the full spectrum of deck-building, spending some dough can give you a significant edge. Personal experience speaking here; the difference between my free-to-play days and after I invested a bit is night and day.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
