Yep, in Magic The Gathering, when a card says 'destroy', it means the card goes directly to the graveyard unless there's a specific rule or ability that says otherwise. So if your fave creature gets hit by a 'destroy' effect, say bye-bye because it's off to the graveyard!

Actually, yes and no. 'Destroy' definitely sends cards to the graveyard, that's a basic rule. BUT, and it's a big but, if a card has indestructible or there's another effect that says it doesn't go to the graveyard, then it sticks around. Magic's all about the exceptions!
