Does double strike work in a fight in MTG?

Definitely! In MTG, double strike means the creature deals both first-strike and regular combat damage. However, in the context of a 'fight' effect from a card, double strike doesn't work like it does in combat. 'Fight' makes two creatures deal damage equal to their power to each other simultaneously, so the double strike ability doesn't grant any advantage here since it doesn't apply to the first strike damage phase outside of combat.

Having used double strike creatures in many a deck, here's the deal: Double strike is fantastic during combat for dealing early and regular damage, but when it comes to fighting (card effect where creatures deal damage to each other), you're out of luck. The extra punch from double strike doesn't count there.

Nope, double strike doesn't give you an edge in a fight. 'Fight' spells or abilities just have creatures deal damage equal to their power to each other at the same time. So, double strike鈥檚 cool and all during combat, but it's just a regular punch in a fight.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
