Blood counters in Magic The Gathering aren't a direct part of the game's basic rules, but they're used in specific cards that mention them. Typically, a card will tell you how to get blood counters and what effects they have. For example, some cards let you remove blood counters to deal damage, draw cards, or get other bonuses. The specifics depend entirely on the card in question, so always read your cards carefully!

Blood counters? Just a fancy term for keeping track of certain abilities. Nothing to stress over, really.

Simply put, blood counters are just like any other counter in MTG, except they're thematically tied to blood! You put them on cards when instructed by a card's ability, and you use them as the card describes. Most of the time, it's about gaining a small advantage by 'bleeding' your opponents or buffing your creatures. Always fun in a slightly morbid way!

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
