How does an Opponent Become the Monarch in MTG?
Just knock the Monarch around with some damage! Seriously though, if you deal combat damage to whoever's sitting pretty on the throne (aka the current Monarch), you get to snatch the crown and become the new Monarch. Simple as that. Or, you know, play those fancy "become the Monarch" cards.

Becoming the Monarch? Overrated. Everyone focuses on drawing that extra card, but sometimes, just keeping a low profile while others fight over the crown works out. Just my two cents.
In Magic The Gathering, an opponent can become the Monarch in a couple of ways, but it mainly happens when a player plays a card that says "you become the Monarch" or when they deal combat damage to the current Monarch. The concept was introduced in the Conspiracy: Take the Crown set and adds an extra layer of strategy, as the Monarch draws an additional card at the end of their turn. So, if you're eyeing that crown, make sure to bring cards into your deck that can crown you monarch or just smack the current monarch with some good old fashioned combat damage!
