How does 'face down' work in MTG?
Face down? It's just MTG's way of keeping secrets. Think of it as putting a card into stealth mode until you decide to reveal its power.

In MTG, playing a card 'face down' means you're deploying it as a mysterious 2/2 creature for 3 mana, without revealing what card it actually is. This tactic mainly comes into play with Morph and Manifest mechanics. With Morph, you can pay the creature's morph cost later to turn it face up and reveal its true form. Manifest lets you put a card from the top of your deck onto the battlefield face down as a 2/2 creature, which can also be turned face up if it's a creature card, by paying its mana cost. It's like sending in a spy; your opponent won't know what hit them until it's too late!
Honestly, face down is a bit overrated. Just play cards face up and go for the win.
