How does Hexproof work in Magic The Gathering?
Honestly, hexproof is overrated. Sure, it sounds cool to have your creatures be untouchable by enemy spells or abilities. But any smart player will just use board wipes or non-targeting removal and bye-bye hexproof advantage. It's good, but it's not a game-winner on its own.

Simple: Hexproof stops your opponent from targeting whatever has it. So if your creature has hexproof, your opponent can't zap it with a Lightning Bolt or snatch it with a Mind Control spell. But AoE (Area of Effect) damage? That'll still hit. It's like having an anti-missile system; stops the targeted stuff but not the bomb that hits everything.
Hexproof in MTG means that the card with hexproof can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control. Imagine it like an invisible magic shield protecting your creature or sometimes even yourself from your opponent's direct attacks or nasty spells. However, remember it doesn't protect from area-of-effect spells or abilities that don't target specifically.
