How does proliferate work in MTG?
Proliferate in MTG is like a magical bonus round for all your counters. When you proliferate, you get to choose any number of permanents and/or players that already have a counter of any kind on them, and then you give them another one of those counters. Got a creature with a +1/+1 counter? Boom, now it has two. Your opponent's got a poison counter? Oops, now they have another. It's a great way to beef up your forces and tick down your opponent's clock!

Honestly, proliferate is overrated. It's situational and really depends on your deck's strategy. Better focus on direct damage or control.
Proliferate lets you add one more of each kind of counter on any number of players and permanents with a counter. Simple as that. It doesn't matter what kind of counter - +1/+1, loyalty, poison, you name it. If it's there, you can proliferate it.
