How does protection work in MTG?
Protection in MTG basically means the card is saying 'Nope' to anything it's protected from. So if it's got protection from blue, blue spells and creatures can't touch it. It's like having an invisibility cloak against anything blue.

In Magic The Gathering, think of protection as a magic shield against specific things. When a card has protection from a color, card type, player, or whatever else, it means four key things: it can't be damaged, enchanted/equipped, blocked, or targeted by anything it has protection from. So, if your creature has protection from red, it laughs in the face of all things red like damage from red spells, being targeted by red abilities, or getting blocked by red creatures.
I think protection is overrated. Sure, it's cool that your creature can't be touched by certain things, but there are tons of ways around it. Just saying.
