Shimmer in Magic The Gathering is actually a card that affects gameplay in a unique way. When you play Shimmer, you choose a land type. Then, at the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player taps all lands of the chosen type. This means those lands can't be used for mana that turn, which can really mess with your opponent's strategy, especially if they're relying heavily on one type of land. It's a great way to slow them down!

Actually, Shimmer forces everyone to tap their chosen land type during each upkeep. It doesn鈥檛 stop the lands from untapping normally on their owner's next turn unless they're the type you named when you played Shimmer. It's all about timing and can be quite the strategic play in your game.

Not a fan of Shimmer, tbh. Feels too gimmicky and situational. There are better cards to mess with your opponent's lands.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
