How does Smokestack work in MTG?
Smokestack is basically the boogeyman of the MTG world if you play it right. At the start of your upkeep, you put a soot counter on Smokestack. THEN, during each player's upkeep, that player sacrifices a permanent for each soot counter on Smokestack. So, you start at 1, making them sack a permanent, then next turn 2, and so on. It's a slow grind to victory, but oh, so sweet when it works.

Just to add, managing Smokestack is key. You gotta balance putting those soot counters on it with what you can afford to lose. Too fast and you might just corner yourself. It's a dance of destruction!
Honestly, Smokestack is overhyped. Sure, it can be a game-winner in the right deck, but it's slow and gives your opponent time to find an answer. It's more about psychological warfare than actual dominance.
Used Smokestack in a tournament once, can confirm it's a game changer. The key is to have disposable tokens or permanents you care less about. That way, you sacrifice the least valuable parts of your board while your opponent loses their crucial resources. It's all about strategy!
