How does The Ur-Dragon work in MTG?
My first commander deck was The Ur-Dragon, and let me tell you, it's epic! Getting those cost reductions straight from the get-go means you can start your dragon army sooner. And when The Ur-Dragon itself hits the field, it's basically game over for your opponents. I once drew 5 cards and dropped a free Aggravated Assault off an attack. Talk about a power move.

IMO, The Ur-Dragon is overrated. Yeah, reducing mana cost and free permanents are cool, but it's a 9 mana cost. Good luck surviving that long.
The Ur-Dragon is basically your big, scaly, flying boss in a card. As an Eminence ability, it lets you cast dragon spells for 1 less mana from the command zone or the battlefield, which is awesome because, let's face it, dragons can be pricey. When The Ur-Dragon is on the battlefield and smacks an opponent, you get to draw a card for each dragon that attacked, and then, because it's not cool enough yet, you can put a permanent card from your hand onto the battlefield for free. It's like having a dragon-themed party where everyone's invited but the entrance fee is cheaper, and the party favors are just top-notch.
