5 basic types, but let's not forget the countless nonbasic lands that add depth and strategy to the game. Each one of these basics corresponds to a color of mana, crucial for casting spells and summoning creatures.

In Magic The Gathering, there are five basic land types that correspond to the game's five colors: Plains (white), Island (blue), Swamp (black), Mountain (red), and Forest (green). Plus, there are also several nonbasic lands with various characteristics and abilities that don't fall into these five categories. So, if you're just counting basics, it's five!

Honestly, it's more about the quality of the lands in your deck than the quantity. But yeah, five basics to get you started.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
