How many lands should you have in your MTG deck?

The sweet spot for lands in most Magic The Gathering decks is around 40% of your total deck. So, if you're playing the standard 60-card deck format, you're looking at about 24 lands. This can vary based on your mana curve and the specific requirements of your deck strategy, though. Aggro decks might lean towards fewer lands, while control decks might pack a few extra.

24 is too many unless you're control. 20-22 lands max for a fast deck, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Keep it lean!

Honestly, it's less about a magic number and more about your deck's mana curve. I've rocked decks with 20 lands when my curve topped out at 3 mana. But my big mana decks? Easily 26 lands. Playtest and adjust!

From my experience, starting with 24 lands is a good rule of thumb for beginners. It's all about balance, though. Too few lands and you'll be mana starved, too many and you'll be drawing lands when you need action. Adjust according to how your deck performs and what it needs.
