As someone who's done a few MTG alters, I can't stress enough the importance of practicing on bulk cards. You don't wanna start your alter journey by messing up a valuable card. Work your way up as you get better!

Honestly, just use a marker for alters if you're not into the whole painting thing. It's way easier and less messy. Plus, you can get pretty creative with just a black sharpie, giving your cards some neat borders or additional elements.

MTG alters are super cool, and there are a few ways to go about it. First, you can start with simple things like extending the art of the card beyond its original border. Use thin brushes and acrylic paints, matching the colors as closely as possible. You can also go full-on custom by painting over the card with a base coat and then adding your own design. Make sure to use a varnish to protect your artwork when you're done!

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
