Is 'play' the same as 'cast' in Magic The Gathering (MTG)?

Totally get the confusion, but here's the deal: in MTG, 'play' and 'cast' are similar but not the same. When you 'cast' a spell, you're specifically dealing with nonland cards and paying their mana costs to put them into action (think spells, creatures, etc.). 'Play,' on the other hand, is a bit broader and can refer to playing lands or casting spells. So, all casts are plays, but not all plays are casts. It's like all thumbs are fingers, but not all fingers are thumbs!

From personal experience, mixing up 'play' and 'cast' during a game can lead to some raised eyebrows. Learning the difference saved me a few

Naah, they're basically the same thing. Just MTG lingo making things more complicated than they need to be.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
