Simply put, activated abilities are the things you can do on your turn instead of just throwing down cards. Pay the price, get the goods. It's like a vending machine for cool effects.

Activated abilities in MTG are special abilities that you can use by paying some sort of cost, which is usually mana but can also be tapping the creature, sacrificing something, or paying life, among other things. You can recognize them easily because they're written in the format 'Cost: Effect.' So, if you've got a card that says "Tap: Add one mana of any color," that 'Tap' is the cost you pay to get that sweet, sweet mana.

Honestly, activated abilities are overrated. Just focus on smashing face with creatures.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
