Cumulative upkeep in MTG is like that gym membership you regret - it costs more the longer you keep it! In game terms, it's a mechanic where at the beginning of your upkeep, you put an age counter on the card and then you have to pay its cumulative upkeep cost for each age counter on it. If you can't (or choose not to) pay, you have to sacrifice it. It's like a ticking time bomb, where the cost just keeps going up!

Just think of cumulative upkeep as rent that increases every month. Each turn, you add an age counter and pay for each counter. So, if you aren't ready to pay up, you'll have to say goodbye to that card.

Honestly, cumulative upkeep is a hassle. More trouble than it's worth. There, I said it.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
