Look, if you want straight up value, you gotta chase those sets with the fetch lands. Zendikar Rising, for example, because lands, especially fetch lands, always hold their value pretty well. Plus, opening a box with the possibility of snagging some sought-after lands adds an extra thrill to the whole experience.
Boosters are a gamble, period. You might hit the jackpot, or you might not. Buying singles is where it's at if you want guaranteed value for your deck.
Modern Horizons 2, no question. Pulled some insane value from just one box and flipped a couple of cards for almost the price of the box itself. You're basically playing the lottery, but MH2 felt like winning at least a small jackpot.
